Connect your hardware to VectoraLab

VectoraLab is designed to accept data from different hardware platforms. Your device only needs to send data to the VectoraLab API using the defined JSON contract.

01

How it works

VectoraLab is not tied to a specific hardware platform. A gateway or application layer can handle the connection between your hardware and the API.

02

Supported hardware

Use your existing hardware. The JSON contract is independent of the underlying hardware platform.

03

Step-by-step setup

The initial setup only takes a few steps.

Create a Device

With Hardware Integration active, create a device from your dashboard and provide its name and optional machine name.

Get your API Key

Use the API key assigned to that device in the Authorization header when sending data.

Authorization: Bearer vl_YOUR_API_KEY

Send JSON data

The request body must contain timestamp and signals. The contents of signals can vary according to your hardware and sensors.

Receive data in VectoraLab

The latest received payload is stored for the device, and the device status is updated to online.

04

JSON data contract

The data contract is intentionally generic so it is not limited to one sensor or hardware type.

{
  "timestamp": "2026-10-04T18:30:00.000Z",
  "signals": {
    "vibration": {
      "axis": {
        "x": [0.12, 0.18, 0.09],
        "y": [0.04, 0.07, 0.05],
        "z": [0.31, 0.28, 0.34]
      },
      "sampleRate": 5000
    },
    "temperature": {
      "value": 48.6,
      "unit": "C"
    }
  }
}
05

Send your first request

The device ID is not included in the JSON payload. The device is identified from its API key.

curl -X POST "https://vectoralab.site/api/hardware/data" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer vl_YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "timestamp": "2026-10-04T18:30:00.000Z",
    "signals": {
      "temperature": {
        "value": 48.6,
        "unit": "C"
      }
    }
  }'
Keep the API key secure in your hardware or gateway application. Do not put it inside the JSON payload.
06

Successful response

When the payload is accepted, the API returns a simple success response.

{
  "ok": true,
  "deviceId": "YOUR_DEVICE_ID",
  "receivedAt": "2026-10-04T18:30:01.124Z"
}
07

Common errors

If a request is rejected, the HTTP status usually identifies the problem.

400

Invalid JSON body or data format.

401

Missing or invalid API key.

403

Hardware Integration is inactive or expired.

404

The requested device was not found.

08
