Unbalance: 1X dominant sinusoidal vibration at shaft rotational frequency. Causes: mass loss (erosion, fouling), manufacturing tolerance, improper balancing. FFT: Clean single 1X peak. Phase: Stable, typically <30° variation between readings. Axial: Usually minimal compared to radial. Diagnosis: Confirm 1X dominant + stable phase + radial dominant + check RPM² relationship. ⚠ 1X alone does not confirm unbalance. Misalignment and resonance also produce 1X.
